Turan is set get early Barca return
An unfortunate injury and surgery for Barcelona revelation Rafinha could open the door for an earlier-than-expected first chance for Arda Turan. The Turkish international signed with Barcelona from Atletico Madrid in July for €34 million plus add-ons, but so far has only been able to train alongside his new teammates.
Because of the transfer ban imposed on Luis Enrique’s side by FIFA, Turan was not expected to be able to start playing with the club until 2016. But with Rafinha set to undergo ACL surgery, the Catalans could benefit from a loophole in the FIFA rules that allows teams to add players outside of the transfer window if a registered player will miss more than five months of action.
If Turan does get a jumpstart on his Barcelona career, he would not be allowed to play with the club in their Champions League group stage matches.
