The signing of 17-year old midfielder DJ Buffonge on a scholarship contract. The fancied name footballer has previously played at Arsenal’s academy and was believed to be one of the starlets. Buffonge was set for a massive career at Emirates before injuries took a toll on him and he had to move away. Things did not work out for the teenager at Arsenal and he ended up joining Fulham.
For now, DJ Buffonge has been credited with playing a series of U-18 matches and ranking up several assists for his sides. Having completed his successful trials, Manchester United completed the deal last week and will now begin the development process for the 17-year old star. Manchester United have kept closed tabs on the 17-year old star and it was earlier this season, when Louis Van Gaal had asked DJ Buffonge to have a trial with the club. As it turns out, he impressed during his trials and now has ended up signing a scholarship contract with the The Red Devils.
According to Manchester United, Buffonge has been described as a player who is very comfortable on the ball and can run at defenders by keeping a close control. He was also credited with the speed he can show on the counter attacks. Next challenge for Buffonge is to nail down a place in Under-21 side and then hope to break in to the first team some time next year.
