Chelsea star Eden Hazard has been linked with a move to Real Madrid following speculation that he wants to leave the Blues next summer.
French newspaper L’Equipe claims Hazard has already expressed a desire to leave to his Chelsea and Belgium team-mates, while his Belgian international manager Marc Wilmots has suggested a move to the Spanish giants will benefit Hazard’s career.
The midfielder, who has been long linked with a move to Madrid in the Spanish press, was benched for Saturday’s win over Aston Villa, but returned to the starting line up for the midweek Champions League draw at Dynamo Kiev.
Explaining why he’d dropped Hazard on Saturday, Mourinho said: “I left out Hazard because we are conceding lots of goals .
“It was a tactical decision. We needed midfield players to be concerned with being solid. I continue that way [leaving Hazard out] or he comes in our direction, and tries to play that way.
“I told players this is not the moment to think about personal situations, or moan, or to be selfish. This is a moment for the team. I asked them to look at the picture in a different way. I have to try bring results back.”
Hazard appeared to ‘like’ an Instagram post linking him with a move to Real this week, but there have been suggestions the post was edited without his knowledge.
On the pitch, Hazard, who has been frustrated with his own recent form, put in one of his best best displays of the season in Kiev, allaying fears that the speculation surrounding his future would affect his game.
