David De Gea looks like he will be staying at Manchester United for the forthcoming season.
A deal had been agreed between De Gea, Manchester United and Real Madrid – which included Costa Rican Keylor Nevas going in the opposite direction – late on Monday.
However, while the British transfer window closes on Tuesday, Europe’s closed on Monday, with it shutting at 11pm in Spain.
And reports have emerged from Spain suggesting the deal was not processed in time and therefore the transfer will not go through and as it stands De Gea will remain a Manchester United player.
Reportedly, United did not send the paperwork through to the offices of La Liga in time and the 11pm deadline was not met.
It remains to be seen if an ‘exceptional circumstances’ rule comes into play as it did with Radamel Falcao 12 months ago but De Gea is said to be both livid and distraught by the situation.
